KCBS Transmitter

Image14.jpg - 21.3 K

Here is the heavy iron room for the GE BT25A. The large box with the scary looking insulators on top of it behind the workers is the modulation transformer (used to apply audio to the radio wave). If you took three of these transformers and put them side by side they would be about the size of our new 50,000 watt transmitter, things have gotten a little smaller in the past 40 years. The workers are standing in front of several large chokes. The plate transformer is in front of the modulation transformer. When the GE transmitter was removed in 1990, this room was turned into an office.
