This photo appears to have been taken at Doc Herrolds College of Engineering and Wireless. Doc Herrold is on the left and on the right is Ray Newby. Ray was one of Docs students and eventually went on to be an engineer at KQW.
They appear to be working code in this photo, so I don't think this is a photo of one of the early broadcasting studios. Look at the between the headphones on the table and Rays hands. This is a coil for the spark gap transmitter and this coil still sits in the KCBS engineering office.
