First Baptist Church

On July 25, 1925, Doc Herrold sold KQW to the First Baptist Church in San Jose. KQW at this time stood for "Kings Quickening Word". The station was operating on 1010 kHz and at a power of 500 watts. A year later in 1926 the church sold the station to KQW general manager Fred J. Hart. Hart turned the station into a farm news service for central valley farmers. Hart operated the station until 1934 when he sold it to Ralph Bruton and Charles L. McCarthy. Hart continued as general manager and in 1935 the power was raised to 5000 watts. In 1941, KQW lost its afilliation with the Mutual_Don Lee Network. In 1942, KQW began its afilliation with the CBS Radio Network.
